Minneapolis City Council: Ward 10

PRECINCT INFORMATION - get your registration information and polling place here.

Thanks for visiting MattForCouncil.org, Matthew Dowgwillo’s Minneapolis City Council website!  I’m running in Ward 10 (mostly Uptown SEE MAP). Please take a minute to follow the links above, read my blog, or join me on facebook

I am running for City Council in Uptown because I believe we share common values.  I have the skills, connections, and energy to make widespread improvements in the way we do things.  I call this, living in a “Common Sense Community.”

·         Enhance the Uptown “culture” and community

o   Continue building a progressive, social, healthy, sustainable city

o   Support community via gardens, events, safety, and respect

o   Support the arts and improve out lakes

o   Follow and improve Uptown’s Small Area Development Plan

·         Fiscal Responsibility for Minneapolis

o   Priority spending and smart investing

o   Lowering taxes for homeowners and families

o   Transparent budgets for all city services and accountability to performance

·         Decrease traffic congestion

o   No, “No Turn on Red”

o   Fix traffic light timing and off-hour “flashing” lights

o   Move Kmart and open Nicollet Avenue

o   Create bike lanes south of Franklin on “off” streets

In everything I pledge to look at long-term investments and make smart, proactive decisions that will improve the city for generations.  I pledge to consult experts and do research before making decisions.  Minneapolis is entrenched with old school politics and systems.  We may have needed that in the past and it has gotten us to today, however, I will bring Minneapolis in to the future and fight to provide service and make our lives better.

Remember, true democracy is giving YOU a voice!  I will work for you and fight to maintain Uptown Minneapolis’ rich culture of art, parks, lakes, progressiveness, and community!
